ABOUT THE WOMEN'S BUSINESS LUNCHEON 

he Women's Business Luncheon group is one of the best educational and informative meetups in the city. We get together every month to have lunch, discuss game-changing business insights, engage in meaningful networking opportunities, create strategic partnerships, share leadership lessons, emerging trends and bright ideas while showcasing valuable products and services from local business women. This isn't your ordinary, boring "let's get coffee" networking event. Our once-monthly "Luncheon Learn" gives you the information and connections you need to grow your business, save precious time and money and meet others who can inspire and partner with you on your journey.

You will find access to exclusive learning opportunities from experts, behind the scenes business and marketing insights, guest speakers, community building, and personal inspiration.

We have over 2,300 online members, but keep our in-person events limited to a small capacity so that you can create and maintain meaningful, organic and productive connections.

​

The WBL meets the second Tuesday of every month at Moxie Kitchen and Cocktails near The Town Center and Seasons 52.We meet inside the East and West Coast room near the front entrance on the first floor. The hostess can direct you to your destination upon arrival.

​

The meeting schedule is usually organized into five parts:

​

11:30 am-Noon = Registration, Networking, ordering lunch

​

Noon to 12:15pm = Welcome announcements  and 30-second introductions

 

12:15-12:30 pm = Guest Speaker

​

12:30 pm-1: 15 pm = Marketing and Business Insights from Karen Rivera and other industry experts.

​

1:15 pm = Prize giveaways, event and promotional announcements, and event conclusion

​

1:30 pm = Additional networking opportunities

​

VIP and General Seating ($10 ahead of time on Eventbrite or $15 paid at the door. Cash and credit card are accepted forms of payment). Tickets include complimentary flavored tea or coffee. Lunch is priced separately. Moxie offers lunch specials for WBL attendees.

 

VIP tickets include front row reserved seating and a complimentary half hour marketing consultation.

ABOUT THE ORGANIZER

 

Karen is an experienced marketing and events professional, a real estate investor and the co-founder of Red Flamingo Properties, LLC. She is also an M.B. A. candidate and fourth generation military veteran. She has been described as having the heart of a social worker and the mind of a capitalist, which allows her to lead a purpose filled mission both personally and professionally. 

She has a background in working with small businesses and organizations to execute event, marketing and PR strategies that differentiate them from their competitors, drive business growth and create superior business readiness. She specializes in working with women-owned and veteran-owned businesses.

She is exceptionally skilled in the implementation of special events, meetings, sponsorships, promotions, and PR and marketing campaigns. She has been a key figure in many creative economic development efforts such as Art Walk, Jacksonville Fashion Week, Jax Film Festival, Digital Club Festival NYC, Bay Area BAMMIES and others. She is well known for her ability to produce engaging content while also creating powerful, strategic partnerships. 

Karen has a BA in American Studies from UCSC, where she was a peer mentor and college radio DJ. After graduating, she worked in Silicon Valley and New York City before returning to her hometown of Jacksonville, Florida. 

Some of her of her favorite professional memories include: meeting the Dalai Lama, as well as organizing Keith Richards’ memorabilia for an exhibit at The Costume Institute at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. She also enjoyed serving her local community as The First Wednesday Art Walk Director and as a business development consultant for Jacksonville Fashion Week.
